Chapter Nine: The "Feather in the Wind" of the "Balance" Deity

Traveler (Guest):
"Oh, silent Fulcrum, the ninth stop on my journey,
I come bearing the 'dream' of Oneness, and the 'mortal dust' of Duality.
Why can your courtyard contain both 'motion' and 'stillness' 'within this small space'?
Can you use your wisdom to solve this 'dilemma' of the 'two poles'?"

Balance (Host):
"O traveler, have you seen that 'dancer' walking on the 'tightrope'?
Has It ever 'complained' about the 'void' on the 'left' or the 'peril' on the 'right'?
It leans neither 'left' nor 'right';
It simply 'places' 'all' of its 'heart-mind' (Xinshen) 'on' 'every step' 'beneath its feet'."

Balance (Host):
"Have you seen the 'center' of the storm, that 'tranquil' eye?
O traveler, Stillness is not the 'stopping' of the 'wind'.
It is, in the 'most violent' 'rotation', finding 'that' eternal 'unmoving' Center of the Circle.
'Left' and 'right' are both 'helpers', they exist 'to help' you 'find' the Middle."

Balance (Host):
"Balance is not 'eliminating' that 'annoying' 'other half'.
O traveler, that is 'learning' 'to dance' 'elegantly' 'in the tension' of the 'two poles', 'without' 'being torn apart'.
Your 'body' lives in the 'dualistic' 'world',
But your consciousness can 'choose' to abide in 'that' 'eternal' Center Point."

Traveler (Guest):
"I understand... I don't need to 'make the world' 'stop swaying'.
I just need to 'find' my 'own' 'inner' Central Axis, and let the 'wind and rain' 'strike'.
The 'realization' of Oneness is not an 'illusory' 'dream'.
It is that Sacred Anchor which allows me to 'stand securely', 'no matter how' the 'world' 'changes'."

(Epilogue)

The Deity of 【Balance】 transformed into the eternal silence within the courtyard.
I sat down, cross-legged.
I looked at the 'changing' 'maple leaves', and I also looked at that 'unchanging' 'stone'.
I listened to those 'disturbing' 'mind-thoughts', and I also listened to that eternal awareness 'behind' the 'mind-thoughts'.
I no longer tried to 'solve' any 'contradictions'.
I just quietly became that
Center
which could 'simultaneously contain' all 'contradictions'.
I, with my 'Balance', had reached a reconciliation.
