《Ash of Roses: A, Regarding "Memory," Color》
If, bright red, is "Passion's" shout; pure white, is "Inception's" whisper; then, does there exist, a color, that can, carry, "Passion's" curtain-fall, after, that, distant and complex "Echo?"
It, is no longer, the event's "itself," but, the event, in "Time," that which has sedimented down, "Memory" and "Wisdom." It, is brimming with story, yet, needs no words. This, is "Ash of Roses." A, born "After," color.
The Color of "Ember," Not the Color of "Fire"
First, we must, take "Ash of Roses," and, all, symbolizing "burning," vivid "reds," strictly, separate. Flame's red, is dynamic, is expanding, is life-force, at a certain moment, the most fiery "Expression." And "Ember's" red, is static, is inward-holding, is, when all dust has settled, after, that, still-remaining, one thread "After-warmth." It, mixes, the full-bloom-passed "Rose's" "Memory," with, the burned-passed "Ashes'" "Philosophy." It, is a, already, passed-through "the storm's center," color. Its beauty, lies not in "Blooming," but in "Sedimenting."
"After-warmth" in Art History
Surveying art history, countless artists, have been, unconsciously, seeking, this, belonging to "Memory," "Color-Domain." In ancient Rome, Pompeii's, by volcanic ash, sealed for millennia, frescoes, we, can find, the most ancient "Ash of Roses." That, once, perhaps, incomparably vivid "Pompeian Red," after experiencing "Fire" and "Earth's" dual quenching, and, Time's long caress, finally, sedimented into, a, mixed with "historical-dust-sense," warm-moist and tenacious "dark red." It, no longer, tells a "moment's" story, but, is, telling of, "Time" itself.
And, two millennia later, abstract expressionist master Mark Rothko, then, in his "Color Field Paintings," took "Ash of Roses," elevated it to, a, pure "Spiritual" "height." He, used, enormous canvases, those, as if, breathing, deep, layer-upon-layer "red-blocks," to, directly, touch the viewer's "Soul." That, was not, happy red, nor, angry red. That, was a, needing you, before it, long "still-gazing," to be able, slowly, with it "resonate," "complex-emotion"-filled, and "Compassion"-filled, red. It, is "Ash of Roses'" "Spiritual Portrait."
The "Terminus" of the Emotional Spectrum
In the human emotional spectrum, "Ash of Roses," also, occupies, an, extremely special position. It, is, a, period of "intense emotion" (whether love, is pain, is burning ideal), after, experiencing time's "natural cooling," that which congeals, into "Amber." That memory, perhaps, still exists. But, it, no longer "sears people." That "searing-pain," has already been, transformed into, a "Wisdom." That "ecstasy," has already been, transformed into, a "Tranquility." "Ash of Roses," is, a, "story-told-finish-after," color. Is, when we, finally can, calmly, look back, to, gaze upon that "great fire," we, in our hearts, that which emerges, that, complex-taste-filled, yet, ultimately returning to "Serenity," unique "Base-Color."
Conclusion: One, Carrying "After-warmth," "Token"The "Heart-Burning Note" (Fén Xīn Jiān), is, this color-philosophy's, most perfect "Artifact" (Fa-qi). It, that tip's, unique "Ash of Roses," is not "decoration," but, the entire artifact, the reason "it exists," "the finishing-touch-dot." It, at all times, is, reminding its "Holder": That field, that once "burned your heart," "Fire," ultimately, did not, turn you, to "ash." But, for you, sedimented down, a, one-of-a-kind, warm-moist and heavy, named "Wisdom," "Ember."
